Producer, Musician and Sound Engineer
Michiel Cleijne (aka iSound ) is an all-round musician and has 25 years professional experience.
At 12 he started classical guitar lessons at the local music school and later at Sweelinck Academy Amsterdam.
He has performed on several occasions as both soloist and duo with American Flautist Michael Williams. He also did an acoustic Beatles guitar tribute together with Dutch guitar legend Harry Sacksioni at the end of the 80’s.
At 22 Michiel started courses in Electronic Music and composition at Centrum Electronic Music (CEM). He worked together on projects with visual artists during the eighties and 90’s.
His first solo project was (SOUND SCAPE) ” Water Ballet” in cooperation with Dutch Radio VPRO.
For more than 15 years he was bass player for “Play it Cool” a jazz/calypso/funk pop band located in Amsterdam with regular performances including the International Jazz Festival 2015.
He also joined the Biggest Bigband ever (Peter Guidi) for a one and only performance at “Het Concertgebouw” Amsterdam on 25 June 2011.
In 2014 Michiel certificated at the EMStudios Academy of Sound as Producer and Sound Designe, After which he followed an intensive course at Abbey Road Institute during 2018 and 2019 to become more advanced in Music Production and sound engineering.
At Abbey Road Institute he studied masterclasses by the famous sound engineer Al Schmitt (Winner of 21 Grammy Awards)
During his time at Abbey Road, Michiel visited the historical Rockfield Studio in Wales for an intensive workshop supervised by the well-known sound engineer Matt Butler (Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Mick Jagger, and Dire Straits)
Currently he is working as a producer and arranger for young talented singers. He also composes music for short films and documentaries.
